Ruth is a multi-media artist born and based in Madrid. After working professionally in fashion, art direction and graphic design , she dedicated entirely to her artistic projects. Ruth is deeply concerned by the uneasy relationship between present-day society and the natural environment, sadly distressed by mismanagement and accumulation of plastic and other inorganic debris in the natural landscape. She works across different disciplines to create imaginary sceneries and generate interventions in natural landscapes.

Lately she has been using discarded plastic bags transforming them into sculpture art by laborious handmade crochetting and weaving, mutating the synthetic material into organic shapes. Her intention is to reconsider the value of thrown away materials of our consumption habits by turning them into objects of artistic value.

She has presented solo and collective exhibitions in Madrid, Paris, Oslo, Utrech Bilbao, and Valladolid. Ruth was an artist in residence at the Saga Residency program 2016 in Iceland. Her project PLASTIC MUTATIONS received the prize "Art, Woman and Nature"-2017 . Ruth Peche´s intervention is at permanent exhibition in ValdelArte, Art and Nature Centre. Sierra de Aracena , Huelva.

In recent years, Ruth has worked with various NGOs related to childhood, teaching workshops and working as a photographer to document their work.

Spanish. Based in Madrid, Spain.
